What's new for the 2020 Toyota GR Supra?

Toyota has resurrected one of the greatest sports cars ever after almost 18 years. Completely new for 2020, the Toyota GR Supra has large shoes to fill considering the popularity and performance of the previous generations of GR Supra. The 2020 GR Supra is the 5th generation of the revered sports car/grand tourer, and Toyota's engineers have pulled out all the stops with the new redesign. The new GR Supra made its debut at the January 2019 North American International auto show (as a 2020 model), and has been turning heads ever since. Let's examine some of the excellent features of this breathtaking car.

2020 Toyota Supra Interior

2020 GR Supra High Performance Trims

The 2020 GR Supra will come in three different trims - 3.0, 3.0 Premium, and Launch Edition. The GR Supra is a driver-focused vehicle that is at home on both the track and the streets, and it comes with an impressive array of features to handle both conditions. With 50/50 weight distribution, the GR Supra is extremely agile and can handle corners deftly.

An available 8.8-inch touchscreen allows the driver to control many functions of the car, and it is elegantly and symmetrically located on top of the center stack. A wide grille is designed to channel cool air directly into the turbocharged engine to help optimize performance, and a flared rear spoiler provides downforce to keep the car firmly planted. A powerful 12-speaker JBL audio system is also available.

How Many Horsepower Does the GR Supra Output?

2020 Toyota SupraThe absolute center of attention here is the GR Supra's 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged inline six-cylinder. The 335-horsepower engine produces 365 lb-ft of torque for savage acceleration, completing the zero to 60 mph sprint in only 4.1 seconds. Working in conjunction with this incredible powerplant is an eight-speed automatic transmission that smoothly changes gears and quickly produces rev-matched downshifts while in Sport mode. The GR Supra is only available in rear-drive configuration.

Abundant Safety Technologies

2020 Toyota SupraThe 2020 GR Supra offers a large array of safety and driver-assisted features as standard options across all trim levels. This includes automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning systems, and automatic high-beam headlamps. An optional Driver Assistance package adds to the standard list of features an adaptive cruise control system and blind-spot monitoring. Rounding out the list of impressive safety features is a rear cross-traffic alert warning system.
