It's already beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Decatur!
Our city's annual holiday kickoff is right around the corner! Santa and his reindeer are coming to town for our yearly Lights of Christmas Parade and the day will also include ice skating, story time and other fun family activities.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, and bring your friends and family out for Holiday 2014! Every year, the parade draws quite a crowd and it dazzles with fun dance troupes, tinsel-covered floats and twinkling Christmas lights all around. As usual, before the parade local residents and out-of-towners are invited to come hang out and enjoy a day of fun-for-all-ages activities in downtown Decatur, Ill.
The official Christmas kickoff celebration starts at 2 p.m. and later in the afternoon at 5:30 p.m. the Lights of Christmas Parade begins! Following this at 6:30 p.m., Santa's House opens in Central Park and there will be live reindeer on site, so remember to bring your camera and make sure your kiddos bring their letters to Santa. Leading up to the parade, guests can shop, eat and take part in special family activities at participating merchants like Coney McKane's, Brass Horn, All Things Beautiful, Giggles and Embroidered Expressions.
