Just admit it. Now that you've got kids, you've been considering a minivan, but fear that buying one means you're not cool anymore. Jalopnik writer Tom McParland hears this all the time from parents and he's got one thing to say in response: "Parents, just buy the [expletive] minivan." Here are three of the primary points behind his reasoning.

Style. In his article, McParland states: "Minivan's don't have to suck ... Today's minivans don't look like rolling slabs of 'I've given up all hope.' I happen to think the Sienna SE has a bit of JDM style." They call it the Swagger Wagon for a reason!

Sliding Doors. McParland calls them a simple yet wonderful concept and notes that they'll keep you from throwing your back out. Just push a button and presto, the doors open and close at your whim, offering easy access to the back-row seats. And combined with the lower ride height of minivans, children can get in and out easier, so you won't have to help lift them up like you might with a taller utility vehicle. Hence the comment about saving your lower back.

Purchase a 2015 Toyota Sienna in Decatur and you'll get dual-power sliding side doors, which are super convenient.

Captain's Chairs. McParland considers captain's chairs a "must-have feature" for minivan buyers, noting that parents (and kids) might desire some separation between siblings, especially if you don't want to hear, "Mom...he's touching me" when driving the kids to school every day. Also, the space between minivan captain's chairs is typically larger than what you'll see in crossovers.

Toyota Sienna offers comfy "Lounge Seating," i.e. captain's chairs with adjustable ottomans and armrests (offered on Limited FWD models).
