
Junior Welfare Association is holding its annual Dash to the Bash 5K/10K this month! Get your tennis shoes ready and walk, jog or run for charity on May 23, 2015. All proceeds from the event benefit the Junior Welfare Association’s Shoe Fund and Athletic Fund, which provide shoes, socks and athletic garments for underprivileged children in Macon County.
First you run and then you get to enjoy the bash! The 10K starts at 9 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9:15 a.m. There will also be a 1 mile fun run/walk at 9:30 a.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in several age brackets.
Registration can be completed online here, or you can download and mail a paper application. Now through May 23, registration is only $30. Packets will be available for pickup at Fleet Fee Sports in Decatur on May 22.
After you complete the 5K/10K, you won’t want to miss the bash at SliderZ. There will be a silent auction, door prizes, an awards ceremony, and complimentary food and beverages. Food tickets for those who don’t participate in the race will be available for purchase.
The Junior Welfare Association is an organization of women who provide financial assistance to various groups in the Decatur area. The organization promotes volunteerism and strives to improve the social, economic and educational conditions of our city. JWA’s flagship programs include the Shoe Fund, Athletic Fund and Homeless Initiative.
