Safety is the name of the game for the 2016 Toyota Prius. Recently, both Prius Hybrid and Prius Prime Plug-in hybrid models performed well in high-impact crash tests that were orchestrated by both the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The all-new Prius achieved a “good” rating for front, side, roof and head restraints from the IIHS. In addition, its available crash-avoidance technology received an even higher mark with a “superior” score.

The good news continues with both models also earning a five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA. Check out the video above to see the NHTSA test in action!

Aside from safety, the 2016 Toyota Prius offers plenty to appreciate. The five-passenger compact sedan is available in eight trims: Two, Two Eco, Three, Three Touring, Four, Four Touring, C and V. Standard features on the entry-level Two include 15-inch alloys, automatic LED headlights, and LED running lights and taillights.

In addition, there’s also heated mirrors, automatic climate control, keyless entry and ignition, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and much more. Buyers will also find that the car comes with a suite of top-tier technologies like a 6.1-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera and voice recognition. Delivering crisp and clear sound, the Prius gets a six-speaker sound system that you’re sure to fall in love with.

Prius Three and Four models are offered with the Advanced Technology package, which features a sunroof, a head-up display and Toyota Safety Sense systems. These top-of-the-line trims can also be outfitted with a JBL 10-speaker sound system, a self-parking system and Safety Connect emergency services.
