With the passing of Scion, Toyota has decided to replace the Scion FR-S sports car. Set to take over where the FR-S left off, Toyota engineers have created the brand-new 2017 Toyota 86.

Expected to have more power, better handling and enhanced styling, the new 86 is a looker for sure. To start things off, let’s first take a look at Toyota's reasoning behind the new name.

“When we announced the transition of the Scion models to Toyota we hadn’t planned on changing the names of our cars, but by popular demand, for our sports car, we decided to adopt the global name of 86,” said Toyota Division Group vice president, Bill Fay.

Okay, sure, the name is pretty cool, but what about the rest of the car? Well, we happen to think it’s a notable improvement over the outgoing FR-S, and we think you’ll agree.

On the outside, this stylish sports car not only looks fast, but it truly is quick and agile, thanks to its 2-liter powerplant that generates 205 horses, which is five more horses than the FR-S. In addition, the 86 comes with Hill Start Assist technology, for easier maneuvering on hills.

Body-wise, the 86 is extremely aerodynamic, and receives several sporty characteristics: twist-spoke wheels, an oversized intake, modern lines and dynamic curves.

Hop inside, and you’re sure to be impressed with the futuristic styling of this sexy machine. Its easy-to-reach controls, sweeping dashboard, silver-finished stitching and bucket seats, create a seamless flow and feel that is stylish and upscale.

Set to roll into Crown Toyota later this year, you won’t want to miss the Toyota 86!
