Toyota took home multiple awards at a recent R&D Magazine event honoring the year’s top 100 innovations in global research and development space. The company was the most awarded automaker, taking home three accolades for innovative technology advancements.
“As companies in the automotive industry transform themselves into broader mobility providers, no auto company better demonstrates innovation and technology for the future than Toyota,” said Jeff Makarewicz, senior vice president, Toyota Technical Center (TTC), Toyota’s North American research & development headquarters. “We’re focused on delivering great experiences for our customers, a cornerstone of Toyota’s product commitment, and this recognition is proof we’re living up to that promise.”
Innovators at the Toyota Research Institute were awarded for two technologies, traction inverters, which boost battery efficiency, and dynamic wireless charging, which allows EV and hybrid batteries to be charged while driving. Toyota Motor Corp. also received an accolade for advancements in thermal cooling for the Land Cruiser Prado.
In the past eight years, Toyota has been awarded more patents than any other carmaker in the auto industry, making them true innovators. They continue to reach new heights and thrive amongst the competition, leading the pack and setting a positive example for fellow manufacturers.
